Diane moved from Nebraska to Des Moines as a young teenager and lived in Olympia for nearly 40 years. She taught English in high school and junior high and worked as a staff writer for the Washington State Senate. Diane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed motor home trips and spending time with her granddaughters. Her warm hugs, sharp wit and optimism will be missed.
Larry Elmer Norwood
July 7, 1934 - March 13, 2018
Larry was born in Emmett, Idaho and moved to eastern Washington as a young child. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Larry married the love of his life, Diane, in 1958. He became a high school administrator and worked at Selah High School before becoming principal of W. F. West High School in Chehalis, Washington. Larry was the first principal of Capital High School. He was known as an advocate for students, faculty, and staff. Larry was active in organizations such as Rotary, Lions Club, and the Association of Washington School Principals. He will be remembered for his leadership, confidence in young people, and unique sense of humor.
