

Don was born in Chadron Nebraska to Ella & Louis Edwin Lecher on 03 April 1923. He graduated from Assumption Academy High School, Chardon Nebraska where he excelled in all sports and was a highly recruited athlete for University track, football and basketball teams. His athletic accomplishments are cited in the Chadron Record where in 1940 he single-handedly won his school the class D state track championship and scored 31 touchdowns for the High School football team.
Don married Verna Gold Lecher in 1944 in Chadron, Nebraska. Don was a veteran of World War II, serving the US Navy as an Electrician Mate and was awarded the WWII Victory, Asiatic and Philippine Liberation Medals.
Don and Verna Lecher moved to Seattle, WA in 1956 where they raised their family, living in the same residence in north Seattle for 58 years. He worked as an electrician for several firms over 35 years, retiring in 1986.
Don was very active in the Catholic community and was a regular member of Christ the King Church, Seattle, WA. He lived life on the right side of God, his strong beliefs and dedication to the Catholic Community stood as a role model for his community and family. Don could be seen regularly walking to Christ the King Church every Sunday when he was well into his 80s.
Don is preceded in death by his loving wife Verna Lecher, and sister LaDeyne Higgins . He is survived by his son, Donald and wife Donna Lecher of Olympia WA and his daughter Terri Ann (Lecher) and husband Douglas Lorenz of Killeen Texas and his grandchildren Robert, Michelle, Angie, Sean, and Lyndzee. He also has seven great grandchildren.
The family is planning a June 2016 celebration of life memorial at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, WA as he rejoins his beloved wife Verna Lecher.
