Merreta Ketchum Daniels

Olympia, WA. Her three sons and their families knew she was instantly with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Merreta was born in Hays, KS on August 10, 1926 to Joseph and Addie Kellogg. Graduating from high

school in 1944, she studied at Kansas State Teachers College.

Merreta met fellow student Winston Ketchum at what is now Southern Nazarene University in

Bethany, OK. After a two-year courtship, they were married in her family home on August 17, 1947.

The following month they accepted a pastorate in Columbus, NE, the first of eight Nazarene churches

they pastored including Salt Lake City, UT; Yerington and Sparks, NV; Snoqualmie, Olympia, and

Vancouver, WA; and Emmett, ID.

Merreta and Winston retired in 1991 and retumed to Olympia. In 1996, they moved to Nampa, ID and

served as Pastor of Senior Adults at College Church of the Nazarene. In 2002, following 55 years in

ministry, they retumed to Olympia to be near Verle and family. In 2005, Winston went to be with the

Lord, and Merreta stayed on in Olympia.

In 2007, Merreta married Dr. Bert Daniels and enjoyed 11 years of marriage. They lived in Nampa,

ID, Olympia, WA, and Harrison, AR until his death in 2018.

Merreta is survived by sons Daniel (Carol) of Woodland, WA; Terry (Kathie) of Olympia, WA; Verle

(Sandy) of Olympia, WA; stepdaughter Lyn (TJ) Hunter of Harrison, AR; six grandchildren, 14 great-

grandchildren, and many other family members.

Visitation: April 18 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Mills and Mills Funeral Home; April 19 from 1:30-1:55 PM at

Mountain View Church of the Nazarene, 940 Israel Road, Tumwater.

Celebration of Life: April 19, 2:00 PM at Mountain View Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow

at Mills and Mills Memorial Park.
