

Sue, was born in Seattle to long time educators James and Marjorie (Roe) Leggett on February 2, 1959. She spent her childhood and early years in Aberdeen, WA. Sue participated in band and competed in swim and dive before graduating from Weatherwax High School (Aberdeen) in 1977. Sue attended Grays Harbor Community College where she met her to-be husband, Scott Schumacher. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University, a 5th year- certificate from University of Washington, and later her Master’s degree from University of Phoenix.
Sue dedicated her life to education. She spent the majority of her 36 teaching years at Wa He Lut School (Nisqually), Rainier Middle School (Rainier), and the last 16 years teaching middle school students at Griffin School (Olympia) where she also coached volleyball.
Sue enjoyed reading on her flower covered patio, spending time on the water paddle boarding, dragon boat racing with her school team, and traveling to the Oregon Coast or Las Vegas with her husband, Scott. She loved the beach, music, volleyball, travel, concerts, festivals, and her two cats Nuggie and Whitey.
Sue is survived by parents Jim and Marge Leggett of Montesano, brothers Steve and Tim Leggett of Aberdeen, son Dylan Schumacher and Megan Massonne of Spokane, daughter Mallory and Drew Schultz of Bellevue, and husband of 36 years Scott Schumacher of Olympia.
