Sylvia Fenton passed away peacefully on February 22, 2023, in Lacey, Washington. Sylvia was born on August 20, 1925, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She married Frank Fenton on May 10, 1947, in Seattle. Frank, Sylvia, and their four children moved often for his business with Standard Oil.
Wherever the family lived, Sylvia lovingly volunteered at church, the children's schools, scouting, and sports activities. They were able to retire to their dream home on beautiful Summit Lake, just outside of Olympia. After moving to Summit Lake, she was the wedding coordinator for the local church and volunteered in the gift shop at the local hospital. Sylvia took great comfort in helping others.
Sylvia was a proud Norwegian and would often travel to California to visit her kids and grandchildren with a suitcase full of homemade Norwegian cookies. She put love into all that she did and was quite the character. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, and traveling. She was an avid reader and loved playing golf, tennis, cards, bowling, and swimming. She would always take a trash bag on her walks around the lake and did her part to keep the area beautiful. She was a pioneer for recycling in her neighborhood in the 1970's. Sylvia was a remarkable woman.
She is survived by her children Gary and Mark, Sheir Jackson (Jim), grandchildren Amy Wyre (Robert), Kristy Dorton (Jeff), (Sara Kelley) Haley and Cy Fenton, Destini Isaacson, great-grandchildren Ayden, Rylo and Delaney Wyre, Abigail and Emily Dorton, and Desmond Fletcher. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, and son, Chris.
There will be no public service. Her family invites you to please privately celebrate Sylvia's memory in your own ways. We know that she will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for your understanding.
