disabled from birth, Bryant entered the Rainier School at Buckley, Washington in 1949. He spent many years there until public policy changed and he was able to move into community group homes and live a happier, more productive life. His most recent
residences were the Exceptional Foresters facility in Shelton and the LGH Westside facility in Olympia. Bryant had an innocent enthusiasm for life and loved to go out in the community and interact with people. In spite of his handicap, he did his best to communicate and held his hand out to anyone he met. His exhilaration and joy for the simple things in life is a lesson to all about what is truly important and meaningful in our existence.
Bryant had a fascination with heavy construction equipment; ‘big ’cranes, excavators, dump trucks and any other machinery associated with the construction business. He expressed great emotion any time he saw construction equipment. Bryant was an inspiration to those whose lives he touched and will be missed by his immediate family as well as his group home companions and the caregivers who lovingly helped him deal with his disability.
Bryant is survived by his aunt; Janice Schille, uncle; Tom Schille, sisters; Denise Patterson, Nancy Evans, brother; Chris Evans, Colleen, nephew; Andrew Evans and nieces, Nicole and Maryn Patterson.
Bryant’s family would like to express sincere gratitude to all the caregivers who made his world a better place. The family would also like to say a special ‘thank you’ to Debra, Spencer, the LGH Staff and to the loving professionals at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia.
