Antonio Azevedo Amorim age 72, of Denair, California, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Antonio was born in São Tomé, São Jorge, Açores, to Rosa Clementina and Fernando Bettencourt Amorim.
Antonio met his wife, Teresa, in São Jorge, Açores, and they were married in 1976. In 1980, they immigrated to the United States, settling in the Turlock area, where they began to build their life together. They were blessed with two children: their daughter, Fatima, and their son, Daniel. Antonio’s love for adventure led him to deep sea fishing, a pastime that reminded him of his homeland.
Above all, Antonio lived for his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, playing, teasing, and always bringing joy and laughter to their lives. Antonio had a great sense of humor and loved a good prank. He was kind, generous, and always ready to help anyone in need. He also adored his little dog, MiMi, who was always by his side, fiercely protecting him and bringing him comfort.
Antonio will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit, warmth, and love for his family will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Teresa Amorim; his daughter, Fatima Silveira (Paul); his son, Daniel Amorim (Monica); his brothers, João Azevedo Amorim (Fatima) and Mateus Azevedo Amorim (Bernardette); his sisters, Conceição Maria Azevedo (Octavio) and Natalia Amorim; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Isabelle Silveira, Gabriel Amorim, and Evangelina Amorim.
Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando Bettencourt Amorim and Rosa Clementina Amorim; his brother, José Azevedo Amorim; his sister, Maria do Carmo Azevedo; his granddaughter, Olivia Amorim; and his niece, Nelia Azevedo.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380. A prayer service will take place on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2602 S Walnut Rd, Turlock, CA 95380. A committal service will follow on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 11:15 AM to 11:30 AM at North Hilmar Cemetery, 8710 Tegner Rd, Hilmar, CA.
Serving as pallbearers are Daniel Amorim, Gabriel Amorim, Paul Silveira, Ed Agueda, Tony Agueda, and James Garcia.
Faleceu no dia 15 de Janeiro no Hospital Memorial Medical, o sr. António Azevedo Amorim com 72 anos de idade.
Era residente de Denair e viveu nas áreas circundantes de Turlock nos últimos 45 anos.
O sr. António Amorim era natural de São Tomé, ilha de São Jorge.
Deixa de luto a sua esposa Teresa Amorim com quem foi casado 48 anos, a filha Fatima Silveira casada com Paul em Turlock, e o filho Daniel Amorim casado com Monica em Denair.
Em São Jorge deixa os irmãos; João Amorim casado com Fatima, e Mateus Amorim casado com Bernardete.
Na ilha Terceira deixa a irmã Natalia Amorim, cá na California deixa a irmã Conceição Maria Azevedo casada com Otavio em Gustine. Deixa também os netos Isabelle Silveira, Gabriel Amorim e Evangelina Amorim.
O sr. Amorim foi precedido na morte pelos seus pais Rosa Clementina e Fernando Bettencourt Amorim, os irmãos José Azevedo Amorim e Maria do Carmo Azevedo, a neta Olivia Amorim, e a sobrinha Nelia Azevedo.
O velório realiza-se Quinta-feira, dia 23 de Janeiro, das 4h às 8h da noite, na Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service situada em 286 West Main St em Turlock.
A recitação do terço e missa terão lugar Sexta-feira, dia 24, às 10h da manhã na igreja de N.S. da Assunção, situada em 2602 South Walnut Rd em Turlock, seguindo-se o sepultamento no cemitério de Hilmar, situado em 8710 Tegner Rd.
Todos os serviços estão ao cargo da Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service de Turlock.
