Charlene Santos

Charlene M. Santos, age 89,of Turlock, Ca., recently passed away, peacefully, following a short illness. She was born Charlene Lyon, at home, in Delhi, Ca. She grew up farming on her parents ranch during the Depression Era. Charlene attended Livingston High School and met her future husband, Leroy Santos, while he helped with her farm work. They married soon after Lee was discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1945. Living in Turlock, she became a homemaker, a nurse's aide, and a school playground attendant. She was a caring wife and mother and liked having her relatives and friends all around her. Charlene was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mabel (Bristol) Lyon, her husband of 46 years Leroy M. Santos, her sister Doris Hutchinson, and her son Charles Douglas Santos of Delhi. Survivors include daughter Cheryl (Gary) Walter of Moab, Ut., son Dennis Santos of Turlock, daughter-in-law Kathy Santos of Groveland, Ca., Daniel (Marlis) Santos of Lodi, Ca., Robert Santos of Turlock, and daughter Lisa (Randall) Brown of Pleasanton, Ca. Her many grandchildren are Shon Walter, Darrel, Steven, Jeremy, Michael, Aaron, and Nicholas Santos, Alissa Finke, Chris and Russell Brown, and Danni Swanson. She also has 25 great-grandchildren. Services will be private with cremation to follow.
