Egidio Manuel Borges Almeida 1941 ~ 2017 On December 13, 2017 Egidio Almeida, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Hilmar, California. Born in Rosais, Sao Jorge, Acores, Egidio lived in Hilmar for many years. He was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Hilmar. He owned/operated a dairy in Hilmar for 36 years, was previously a Supreme President of UPEC over the state of California, he was a member of Knights of Columbus of Turlock, and was involved in many other organizations as well. Egidio leaves behind his wife of 53 years Maria Isilda Almeida of Hilmar, his sons: George F. Almeida of Newman, Gino M. (Debbie) Almeida of Hilmar, and Gilbert M. (Kelly) Almeida of Hilmar, as well as his eight grandchildren: Ashley de Oliveira, Dominic Almeida, Danielle Almeida, Christian Almeida, Matthew Almeida, Mallory Almeida, Noah Almeida, and Nathan Almeida, and two great-grandchildren: Amelia de Oliveira and Charlotte de Oliveira. Egidio also leaves behind his brothers: Julio Almeida & Ilidio Almeida of Livingston, his sisters: Maria de Lourdes Maciel of Los Banos, and Saozinha Pires of Livingston, as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday December 21 from 2-5PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service: 286 W. Main Street Turlock, CA 95380. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7PM Thursday December 21 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church: 8471 Cypress Street Hilmar, CA 95326. Funeral Mass will be held at 10AM on Friday December 22 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church: 8471 Cypress Street Hilmar, CA 95326. Egidio will be laid to rest at N. Hilmar Cemetery: 8710 N. Tegner Road Hilmar, CA 95326. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Egidio's name to Covenant Care at Home Hospice of Turlock.
