On Saturday, October 31st we lost an incredible, wonderful man, Genaro Pulido, better known as “The Handsome Man” or “El Guapo.” After ten arduous months of battling cancer, the Lord took him with his arms held high and signing until his last breath. He is with the Lord and with his father, Genaro Sr.
His spirit will be carried on by: his son, Genaro III, daughters Bethania, Andreina, and Alondra, his devoted wife of 28 years, Gloria, amorously named “La Flakita,” his two brothers, two sisters, and loving mother, Ofelia Pulido. As well as the rest of his large adoring family, friends, acquaintances, over 20 godchildren, his 3,540 Facebook friends, and everyone who has ever had the pleasure of meeting him, everyone who he sang to, made a pun out of their name, videotaped their wedding or graduation, or smiled to with his contagious and cheery smile.
He was the first born of his parents, on November 19, 1959 at 10am in the morning in La Piedad, Michoacán, Mexico. He came to Livingston, California with his family when he was 14 years old. He attended the Centro de Estudios Superiores, Seminario de Zamora en Michoacán, until 1980 to become a priest, while God had different plans for him. He lived many different lives: from accountant, restaurant owner, photographer, salesman, marketer, newscaster, radio DJ, youth minister, Catholic ministries volunteer, orator, poet, musician, honorary Mariachi singer, “super macho mexican playboy,” and he finally found his mission as a Realtor, meeting people, networking, finding the perfect place for people to call home.
The Handsome Man always said he was on a mission. A mission to live his life with strong faith, with a positive attitude and spreading the word, that “handsomeness is contagious.” He lived his life by this motto, “la vida es hermosa, y la guapura, contagiosa” (life is beautiful, and handsomeness is contagious). Everyone who has ever met him laughed at his self-proclaimed handsomeness, were amazed by his boisterous songs, admired his strong faith and positive attitude, and always left with the memory of the happy, handsome, singing man.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in his handsome memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org. His viewing will be at 1pm to 5pm at Whitehurst, Norton and Dias Funeral Chapel, and from 7pm to 7:30pm on Wednesday, November 4th at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock. We will be celebrating his life on Thursday, November 5th at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock, CA at 10am, followed by the burial at Turlock Memorial Park and Funeral Home.
