It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ismael Betancourt, a man whose larger-than-life personality touched the hearts of all who knew him. Ismael passed away on Sunday January 19, 2025, at the age of 59.
Born on March 1, 1965 in Patterson, California, Ismael’s charisma and infectious spirit set him apart from the crowd. His love for life, his family, and his passions were evident in everything he did.
A true cowboy at heart, Ismael’s love for horses was undeniable. His knowledge of horses and his unwavering respect for their abilities was known, and often shared with others. But it wasn’t just his love for horses that defined Ismael. He was known for his infectious laughter and his love for dancing. He couldn’t resist the rhythm of the music, and he could always be found on the dance floor, leading with the kind of energy and joy that made everyone feel welcome.
Ismael’s cowboy boots were more than just footwear—they were a symbol of his character: tough, reliable, and always ready for the next adventure. He never met a challenge he wasn’t eager to take on, and his generous heart made him a true friend to all who were lucky enough to know him.
Ismael is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Maria Betancourt, his children Adrian Alexander Betancourt and Yesenia Marie Betancourt, his father Ismael M. Betancourt, his siblings Joe Betancourt, Paul Betancourt, Michael Betancourt, Margarita Betancourt, and Angelica Betancourt, and his grandchildren Mia Hernandez and Violet Hernandez.
He was preceded in death by his son Diego Betancourt and his mother Angela Betancourt.
Though Ismael has left this world, his legacy of kindness, joy, and love for life will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
