João Machado Correia

Mr. João Machado Correia (João Sacristão) passed away peacefully surrounde by his family Thursday May 26, 2016 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto California, he was 65 years old and was born in Porto Judeu de Baixo Terceira, Azores on June 5 th 1950. He met his wife Maria Lurdes Pacheco in the summer of 1967... They dated for long time and married in September 29, 1974. He immigrated to the United States in 1976 which they proceeded to have 3 beautiful children. He worked in a dairy then construction for many years, until he decided to open a bakery in San Jose called “Padaria Açoreana”. In 1989 he deiced led to take the plug and sell the bakery and move to Modesto and open a bakery there, few years later he opened his bakery in Hilmar. He loved his family, his Canaries, his dogs and loved can being outside, was always moving, he was an avid soccer fan and stayed true to his team Benfica. His family looked up to him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. John is survived by his Wife of 42 years Maria Pacheco Correia of Turlock, his Son- John Correia and wife Valerie of Modesto. Daughters- Jacklyn Oliveira and husband Luciano of Atwater, Lisandra Correia and fiancé Brian Oliveira Turlock. 4 Grandchildren - Kyle, Haley, Brianna, and Scarlett. Brothers-Antonio Correia and wife Paula of Hilmar, Paulo Jorge Correia of Cambridge Canada, Joaquim Correia and wife Eulalia of Terceira Açôres.Sister- Filomena DaCosta and husband Joao of Cambridge Canada. Several Nieces and Nephews. Joao Correia is proceeded in death by his Parents- Manuel and Rita Correia and his brother Manuel Correia.

Services: Visitation-2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main St., Turlock, California.

Vigil & Rosary- 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20323 American Ave. Hilmar, California. Funeral Mass- 9:00 AM, Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 20323 American Ave. Hilmar, California. John wil be laid to repose at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, California.
