José Eutimio Ambrosio Nunes, age 75, of Merced, California passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019. He was born September 7, 1943 in Santo Antão, Topo, São Jorge, Açores to Amelia Perpetua Nunes and João Ambrosio Nunes.
José is survived by: son José Nunes (Telma) of Gustine; daughter Cidalia Nunes (Ludgero Morais) of São Miguel, Açores; daughter Maria Fatima Nunes (Juan Acosta) of Merced; sister Angela Nunes (Jorge Azevedo) of Santo Antão, Topo, São Jorge, Açores; sister Julieta Nunes of Graciosa, Açores; brother Antonio Nunes (Alzira) of Turlock; brother Mario Nunes (Maria Helena) of Santo Antão, Topo, São Jorge, Açores. Mr. Nunes also leaves ten grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews to honor his memory.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Vieira in 2016, his father João Nunes and mother Amelia Nunes, daughter Rosa Teixeira, his brother Manuel Ambrosio, and his sisters Fernanda Nunes, Serafina Nunes, and Fatima Leonardo.
José was a dedicated parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merced, California.
A visitation for Mr. José Nunes will be held from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service: 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California. During the visitation, there will be a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM.
A funeral mass will occur at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church: 562 W. 13th Street, Merced, California. He will be laid to rest following the service at Merced Cemetery District: 1300 B Street, Merced, California.
Serving as pallbearers are Michael Nunes Acosta, Adan Barajas, George Azevedo, José Leonardo, Aurelio Barajas, and Manuel Miguel.
