Maria Leuineza Fontes, age 72, of Hilmar, California, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. Born in Cinco Ribeiras, Terceira, Açores, she was the daughter of Maria and Constantino Cardoso.
Maria was a loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend to many. She cherished her family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
Maria is survived by her children: Anabela Ughe (Steve) of Escalon, Cesar Fontes (Marta) of Hilmar, Michael Fontes (Leslie) of Ripon, and Carlos Fontes (Stephanie) of Gustine. She is also survived by her siblings: José Cardoso, Filomena Costa (João) of Toronto, Canada, and Sãozinha Silva (Serafim) of Gustine, along with her sisters-in-law Alvarinha Sousa of Modesto and Eulalia Fontes of Cinco Ribeiras, Terceira. Maria leaves behind eleven cherished grandchildren: Mario Ughe, Makayla, Genavieve, Evelyn, Madison, Michael, Mason, Maddex, Carson, Carley, and Carter Fontes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Fontes; her son, George Fontes; her daughter, Delia Fontes; her father, Constantino Silveira Cardoso; her mother, Maria Cardoso; and her brothers, Manuel and Antonio Silveira Cardoso.
A visitation for Maria will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main, Turlock, CA 95380.
The Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20263 American Avenue, Hilmar, California 95324.
Following the Mass, Maria will be laid to rest at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gabriel Borba, Walter Borba, Paul Borba, Mason Fontes, Michael Fontes, Mario Ughe, and Alessandro Bonecchi.

Foi precedida na morte pelo seu marido Manuel Fontes, os filhos, George Fontes e Delia Fontes, os seus pais Maria e Constantino Silveira Cardoso, e os seus irmãos, Manuel e António Silveira Cardoso
O seu velório realiza-se quinta-feira, 3 de Outubro, das 4 horas às 8 horas da noite, na Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 West Main Street, Turlock.
Recitação do Terço e Missa de Corpo presente realizam-se na Sexta-feira, 4 de Outubro às 10 horas da manhã, na Igreja Católica do Santo Rosário, 20263 American Avenue, Hilmar, Califórnia 95324.
A Senhora Fontes será sepultada no cemitério de Turlock.
