Bob was a man with a big heart, who loved to GIVE! He wasn’t happy unless he could give you something. He never visited empty handed and you never left without something he gave you to take! Bob will be remembered most for his big heart and second for his corny jokes and saying’s that imprinted his children and those who knew him. Bob will be cremated and a celebration of his life will take place on his birthday, February 4th at his family home.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley Norman of Fernley, NV; Son’s John P. Barbe of Hayward, CA; Francois (Gene) Barbe of Loomis, CA; Edmond L. Barbe of Denver, CA Daughter’s: Roseanne Hernandez Marquez of Watsonville, CA; Linda Barbe Molestina of San Francisco, CA; and Andria Hernandez of Turlock, CA. Seven Granddaughters, a Grandson, a Great Granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was the widower of Eva E. Hernandez.
In his early twenty’s he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Lithographer, printing cans. He spent over 35 years working for a variety of companies, predominately Crown, Cork & Seal, as well as Western Can Corp. Bob was a Union man, part of the San Francisco Lithographers Union. After retiring from Lithography, Bob worked as a Courier for SmithKline Laboratories and Quest Diagnostics in Modesto area. He really enjoyed his time as a courier and serving people.
Bob spent much of his early years working hard to support his family. He was always quick to volunteer to help those who needed a helping hand. He love to watch Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson films or has Netflix categorized them “Violent, Action Films”, but his all time favorite viewing pleasures were old episodes of Perry Mason (all eight seasons)! He never tired of watching those over and over again. Bob love to spend time with his good friend, Manuel Canga shopping for his new found hobby of collecting clock’s and model cars. Friday’s were Bob’s day, whatever Bob wanted…. Bob got with his buddy. A better friend was never had. Bob had opinions and many theories about what made the world go ‘round. Those who spent time with him can probably repeat them verbatim. Consider yourself lucky. Bob would have one last thing to say if he was writing this, so here’s one of his favorites :
“ What’cha gonna do when the Sun turns blue? Tell everyone that I LOVE YOU!” “SMILE !”
