Rosa B. Bertão, age 88, of Turlock, California, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Rosa was born in São Brás, Terceira, Açores, to Maria and João Borba.
Rosa's deep faith was a central part of her life, and she was a devoted parishioner of Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson, where she found strength and solace. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was everything to her. Her heart was full of love, and she found great joy in the presence of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Rosa was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Agostinho Simas Bertão, in 2021, whom she missed dearly. Together, they shared a life of love, faith, and dedication to family.
Rosa is survived by her son, Leo Bertão (Perla); her grandchildren, Paulo Bertão (Nicolette), Matthew Bertão (Kendall), and Nicholas Bertão; and her great-grandchildren, Martin Bertão, Paulo Bertão Jr., Ella Bertão, Jack Bertão, Landon Bertão, Mila Bertão, and Enzo Bertão.
Rosa was preceded in death by her father, João Borba, and her mother, Maria Borba. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A recitation of the rosary and funeral mass for Rosa will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church, 7820 Fox Rd, Hughson, CA 95326. Following the recitation of the rosary and funeral mass will be a committal service at Turlock Memorial Park, 575 N Soderquist Rd, Turlock, CA 95380.
Serving as pallbearers are Paulo Bertão, Matthew Bertão, Nicholas Bertão, Martin Bertão, Paulo Bertão Jr., and Dimas Borba.
Though Rosa has left this earth, her spirit will continue to live on through the love and memories she shared with all who knew her. Her legacy of faith, devotion, and unconditional love will never be forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.
