Alice Faye Fields

Alice Faye Fields, age 72, of Northport, died September 1, 2016, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Sunset Funeral Home with Steven Hooks officiating. Burial will follow in Piney Woods Cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary; son, Franky; and daughter, Allyson.Survivors include her daughters, Sherry Sexton (Rick) and Melissa Coleman (Jon); son, Ryan Swanger; sisters, Charlotte Pate (Roy) and Cindy Clements; brothers, Nelson Smith (Ruth) and Louie Smith; and grandchildren, Kurt Woods, Cody Woods, Josh Coleman, Derek Coleman, Lindsay Coleman, Lexi Woods and Remi Woods.Faye was raised by Jack and Christina Smith. She was one of eight children. In her many years of teaching, she molded the lives of thousands of children. Words can't describe how special she was to so many people that knew her. She was a longtime member of Taylorville United Methodist Church. In hers and others darkest time, she was a bright shining light that gave peace to those who needed it most.Faye will be greatly missed and never forgotten.Pallbearers will be Kurt Woods, Cody Woods, Josh Coleman, Derek Coleman, Ryan Swanger, Bill Hallman, Virgel Williams and Rodney Christian.Honorary pallbearers are Ina Fields, Rachel Christian, Carolyn Hamner, Eric Christian and ACA staff and students.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Faye Fields memorial fund at American Christian Academy.
