

Archie Crawford, age 91 passed away on January 4 at his home; on the same homestead where he was born, August 28, 1932, in Echola, Alabama. Archie was the 4th generation of his family to call this land home, a tradition that is now on the 7th generation. He was very proud of his Echola roots.
Mr. Crawford was predeceased by his parents, Malley and Itie Crawford and all of his siblings; Corley, hubert, Ruby, Muriel, Bill anna Lee and Morris. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 67 years, Jannet Crawford; his children, Lynda Lamon (Mike), Jeffery Crawford (Robin), Denise Ward (Steve) and Melissa Garner (Gerald). He was very proud of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Archie will be remembered as a devoted servant of God, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Always a hard worker, he was an Army veteran, owned a service station, worked at Bryce Hospital for 30 years retiring from the engineering department. For over 40 years he was a cabinet maker and at the age of 69, he became the groundskeeper at Northridge Baptist Church, retiring at age 85.
A founding member of Northridge Baptist Church, Mr. Crawford served in any capacity that he was asked. He served as a deacon for 55 years, fed children at VBS, transported youth and senior citizens and served on the building and grounds committee.
His life will be honored and celebrated on Wednesday, January 10, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home beginning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Memory Hill Gardens. Mr. Crawford's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
