

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, Betty Joyce Day, 89, loving wife, mother, and GanGan, passed away at Hospice of West Alabama surrounded by family. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama funeral service at 11 a.m. graveside to follow.
Betty was born June 29, 1935, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and GanGan. She served at her church, Rosedale Baptist, where she taught bible study, volunteered in the youth group, and was a member of the benevolence team and Young at Heart community. She also devoted many years to the Baptist Campus Ministries where she helped feed students. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchild, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Betty loved life and people. To know her was to love her. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived her beautiful life and loved others.
Betty married the love of her life, Curry Lamond Day on September 2, 1955. Their marriage was one filled with love for each other and God. Curry went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 30, 2012. Betty remained a strong Christian woman for her family, knowing that she would see Curry again one day in Heaven.
She is survived by her children: Tami Day, Tina Robertson (Doug), Tony Day (Jennifer); grandchildren: Hannah Tyra (Zane) and Ranson Day; great grandchild: Warren Tyra; siblings: John Carroll (Jill) and Jody Carroll; nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Curry Lamond Day; parents: George Cecil Carroll and Vivian Hunt Carroll; brothers: Billy Carroll and Gordon Carroll (Violet), grandparents Joe Carroll and Minnie Clark Carroll, and Spencer Alvin Hunt and Jettie Lee Burns Hunt; nephews David Carroll and David Webber.
Pallbearers will be Tony Day, Ranson Day, Zane Tyra, Justin Carroll, Robert Kirksey, and Bruce Baker. Honorary Pallbearers are Hospice of West Alabama and Tuscaloosa County Deputy Sheriffs – Tim Boler and Joseph Martin.
