

Billy Clyde Herring, age 65, of Northport, died Oct. 11, 2012, at Noland Hospital. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Charles Herron officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie H. Herring and Helen Clyde Herring, and his daughter, Daphne Wyatt Hendrix.
Survivors include his wife, Kay McCray Herring; his sons, Michael Herring (Robin) of Northport and Ricky Wyatt (Judy) of Moundville; his sister, Carolyn Herring Duncan (Floyd); his grandchildren, Bethann Bullard, Autumn Harbison, Heath Hendrix, Daniel Hendrix, and Kellen Hendrix; and his great-grandchildren, Magen Hendrix, Ava Kay Hendrix, Davis Harbison, and Jackson Harbison.
Born and raised in Holt, Alabama, he was a lifetime member of Holt First United Methodist Church. Billy owned and operated Herring's Garage until his retirement. After three years of enjoying his retirement in Demopolis, Billy moved to Northport to be close to his son as he became ill fighting diabetes.
Pallbearers will be Keith Huffman, Chad Skelton, Heath Hendrix, Tony Davis, Hunter Skelton, Jason Mattison, and Simon Walker.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Stephen Browne, employees of Noland Hospital, friends and neighbors at Cove Park, employees of Mercedes-Benz, employees of DCH Anesthesia Department, and the "Club Herring Crew".
