Brunhilde Bentley

Brunhilde P. Bentley, age 101, died April 3, 2026 at The Oaks on Parkwood nursing facility in Bessemer, AL. Services will be on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1401 University Blvd. E, Tuscaloosa, AL, 35404. Pastor Michael C. Boykin will officiate. Visitation will be at 12:00 and the funeral will begin at 12:30. A reception will be held at the church following the service. Interment will follow at Memory Hill Gardens, 2200 Skyland Blvd. E, Tuscaloosa 35405.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Jesse B. Pritchett, Jexie Reed and Toliver R. Bentley, her parents, Franz and Rosa Bruckner, her sister Maria Murr and brother in law Herbert Murr of Austria.

She is survived by her son Steven Pritchett (Susan) of Hoover, AL, her grandchildren Jesse Pritchett (Irina) also of Hoover, Katherine Hinton (Brandon) of Helena, AL, great grandchildren Zoya and Isaac Pritchett and Xander and Ridley Hinton. She is also survived by her nephews Richard Murr (Andrea) and Peter Murr of Austria.

Pall Bearers will be Jesse Pritchett, Brandon Hinton, Wes Watkins, Clay Morrison, Wallace Kinsaul and Daniel Popp.

Hilde was born in Spital am Semmering, Steiermark, Austria and came to Tuscaloosa in 1951 as a war bride. She became a US citizen in 1956 and member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in 1957 and was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1970 and worked for 20 very fulfilling years at the West Alabama Rehabilitation Center as an Academic Vocational Instructor. She was a member of Altrusa International. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed many creative hobbies such as weaving and baking. She enjoyed extensive traveling both in the USA and abroad. She also loved taking care of her many cats, spending time with her friends, neighbors and the community of football fans who parked at her house on Bama game days.

Visitation will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1401 University Blvd E, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404, US, on April 9, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at the same location from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm. A Reception will follow at Holy Cross Lutheran Church from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at Memory Hill Gardens, 2200 Skyland Blvd East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405, US, on April 9, 2026, at 3:00 pm.
