Carmon Tia Rico, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, at the age of 48. Born on July 17, 1976, Carmon spent most of her life in the close-knit community of Brookwood, where her kindness, strength, and spirited nature touched many.
She was the cherished daughter of Jennifer Duren Gray and John Wesley Gray (Jimmie Lou). She grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings—Philip Mitchell, Natalie Hydrick, Dean Johnson, and Marcia Fleenor (Brian)—along with many aunts, uncles (including Clay Duren), cousins, nieces, and nephews. Carmon will be remembered as fiercely honest, always outspoken, a little spicy, and, above all, deeply caring.
She was married to her devoted husband, Eduardo Rico, with whom she shared a deep love and built a beautiful family. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Kayla Garner (Joshua), Nicholas Rico (Madison), and Austin Rico (Ava). Carmon’s joy extended to her precious grandchildren—Caleb and Benjamin Garner, and Elliana, Elias, and Emil Rico—who knew her as a loving “Mamaw Rico,” with a heart full of warmth, a house full of love, and a bowl full of candy always waiting just for them.
Carmon was best known for her exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail—traits that made her a guiding force in her family’s lives. Her green thumb nurtured beautiful roses that bloomed as vibrantly as her spirit. She adored her animals and had a special gift for discovering treasures at flea markets, always with an eye for the perfect deal.
A woman of deep faith, Carmon loved Jesus profoundly and lived her life in service to others. Her generosity and kindness extended far beyond her family to anyone in need. While she could be bold and direct, her love and compassion shone through in every action.
A private memorial service will be held, with details to be shared with family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Carmon’s memory to Bone Camp Methodist Church in Northport, Alabama, a very special place.
Carmon Tia Rico will be remembered as a woman full of life, love, and laughter—a beacon of strength and warmth to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and uplift her family and friends.
She is deeply missed and forever loved. Psalm 34:18
