

Charles E. Walker, Sr., age 83, of Tuscaloosa, died Sept. 25, 2010, at Northport Medical Center-DCH. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Hill Gardens with Roderick Williams officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Grace Walker; his son, Charles E. Walker, Jr.; his father, John Walker, Jr.; his mother, Mary Helen Walker; his brothers, William Webster Walker and Dickie Walker; and his sisters, Helen Doris Walker Richardson, Meredith Walker Martin, and Ruby Nell Walker Stump.
Survivors include his daughter, Anne I. Walker Blake (John) of West Blocton; his sons, Dennis Seymour Walker (Shirley) of Northport and Earl. R. Roberts (Joyce) of Lincolnton, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Walker was born in Tuscaloosa and was raised and attended school in Tuscaloosa. He worked at Alagasco for 44 years and retired after suffering a heart attack on the job. He was the oldest living retiree of Alagasco/Energen in the state.
Pallbearers will be son-in-law John Blake; grandsons Bryan Blake, Wayne Walker, and Wade Walker; and stepson Earl Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers are employees of Alabama Gas Co. and Hospice Complete, and family, neighbors, and friends of First Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local hospice or Eagles' Wings.
