Clara Herrington

Clara Yow Herrington, age 95, passed away on March 19, 2023. She was born in Pine Hill Alabama on August 13, 1927, and lived in Tuscaloosa County most of her life. Clara was the youngest of seven children all of whom remained close throughout their lives.

Clara was one of the first women to be hired at B. F. Goodrich in 1947. She was employed for 33 years at Morganthau Cleaners in Tuscaloosa. She was an active member of Taylorville Baptist Church and assisted in the nursery for many years. Her faith guided her life. Her “perfect day” was whenever she could have her family nearby for Sunday dinners, birthdays, and holidays. She would often say, “we have fun, don’t we?”. She enjoyed gardening and particularly excelled at growing flowers and vegetables.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ed Herrington.

She is survived by her three children, Susan Sansing, Mary Stough (David), and Edwin Herrington (Vivian). Her grandchildren are Nelson Sansing (Crisee)

Tyler Sansing (Erin), Stacy Noland (Larry), Nathan Stough (Maura), Jamie Herrington (Lindsay), Christopher Herrington (Megan Scanlon), and Allison Blackburn (Justin). She was especially proud of her seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Larry Noland.

Services will be held on Friday, March 24 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home at 2200 Skyland Blvd East in Tuscaloosa with Rev. Billy Gray officiating. Visitation will be at 1:00PM with the service at 2:00PM.
