Don was an avid car lover who loved his car club buddies and anything related to cars. To know Don was to love him, and he made friends with anyone he met. He had lasting friendships that dated all the way back to kindergarten. He loved his family with all his heart, especially his brothers and sister and nephews. He admired and respected his stepdad, who loved him like his own son. His strongest bond, and biggest cheerleader, was his mom. He spent his lifetime dealing with many illnesses which resulted in a kidney transplant that far outlasted the predictions of his doctors – almost 29 years. One of the biggest loves of his life was his 76 Nova that was given to him by his Grandpa Tom. The second love of his life was his pet Corgi, Buddy, which he had for nine years. He is now in Heaven enjoying building cars with his uncles, Curtis and Doug, and playing with his Buddy dog.
Pallbearers will be Mark Murphy, Ian Price, Josh Patton, Derrick Patton, Jarrett Jones, Brady Patton, Jr., Gordon Bush, Brandt Stevens, and Chris Van Etten.
Honorary pallbearers are The Don Mills Car Club, Dr. Benfield, Glana Clary, Frieda Smithson, Celletrius Sanders, Kirkland Clinic Oncology, and UAB Kidney and Pancreas Transplant Clinic.
