Donald W. Peak, PhD, age 74, of Northport, died March 15, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Wetumpka at 3:30 p.m., with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be Monday night, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathrine W. Dole; father, Clide A. Peak; brothers, Clide A. Peak Jr., and Dr. Benson W. Peak; and sister, Mary Kathrine Peak. Survivors include his sons, Richard Alexander Peak and William Wayne Peak; brother, Richard A. Peak; and grandson, Riley Alexander Peak and his beloved pets R.C. and Susie. He was a graduate of Wetumpka High School, attended the University of Alabama, and graduated from Huntington College in Montgomery, Ala. He attended Auburn University, and graduated with a Masters degree in Physics and Math from North Carolina State in Riley, North Carolina. He was a 40 year resident of Northport, Ala. He was a 40 year owner and operator of Forest Manor Nursing Home, and revered and respected by employees, residents, and community. We would like to a special thanks to Joe Perry and Pricilla Burt for their special care and friendship. Pallbearers will be Joe Perry, Rodney Sanders, Earl Summerlin, William Summerlin Jr., Danny They, and Garner Clark.Honorary pallbearers are employees of Forest Manor Nursing Home and Forest Manor Rehab Pavilion. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
