Mrs. Mott was born on July 26, 1932, in Cary, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Dr. John P. Hunter and the late Iva A. Schubert. Her husband, Dr. Harold Mott, and brother, J.P. "Jackie" Hunter Jr., preceded her in death. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. She met her future husband, Harold, while working as a secretary at North Carolina State University.
In her earlier days in Tuscaloosa, Mrs. Mott was active in the University Women's Club and the Woodland Hills Garden Club. She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling, bird-watching, NASCAR, and of course, Alabama football. Ecstatic to be a first-time grandmother at age 76, she loved visiting with her grandchildren, watching them learn to walk, talk, and sing, and admiring their artwork.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John H. Mott and Lisa A. Mott, and her precious grandchildren Anna Kathryn, age 3, and Evan Hunter, age 1, all of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Honorary pallbearers are the faculty and staff of the University of Alabama College of Engineering and neighbors and friends of Woodland Hills, Merrill Gardens, and Martinview Assisted Living.
