
Frank G. Brennan, Sr., age 94, passed away on June 20, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas, after a two year illness. His last days were comfortable and peaceful.He lived a long and very active life living independently and driving from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham and beyond for Square Dancing at age 92.Frank was born to John and Catherine Brennan in Chicago, Illinois in 1921. The ten children in their Irish Catholic family learned the value of hard work from their parents. Frank described the importance of defending his territory as a "paperboy" selling newspaper on the sidewalk in Chicago.Frank served in the U.S. Navy with Underwater Demolition Team 21 during WW2 participating in the invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach on D-Day and later serving in Japan.He was a member of St. Johns and Holy Spirit Catholic Church where he was Usher and a member of the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree.Frank enjoyed the company of his close nephew Martin and his wife Evelyn. Together, they took cruises and vacations near and far sometimes joined by their sons, Patrick and Michael.Frank was predeceased by his parents, John and Catherine; brothers, John, Marty, Tom, Joe and Jim; sisters, Mary, Catherine, and Anna Marie.He is survived by his sister, Norine Wilson; daughter, Eileen B. Callejas and son, Frank G. Brennan, Jr.; grandsons, Gio Callejas and wife Jojo, Jeff Callejas and wife Sandra; great-granddaughters, Adrianna and Lauren Callejas; and many nieces and nephews and their families.Viewing will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m., then burial at Memory Hill Gardens followed by a luncheon at Knights of Columbus Hall adjacent to Holy Spirit Church.Pallbearers will be Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. Arrangements are being handled by Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider.
