
MOUNDVILLE - Geneva Ramey Free, age 93, of Moundville, Ala., passed away October 30, 2017 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m., Friday, November 3, 2017, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Spence officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Moundville with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy C. Free; parents, Jordan and Annie Mae Ramey; brothers, Ben Ramey and Randolph Ramey; sister, Mary Lee Ramey; son, Perry Free; and daughter, Betty Jones.
Survivors include her sons, Lewis C. Free (Harriet) of Charleston, S.C., Troy R. Free (Jo) of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Joseph Free (Brandi) of Moundville; daughter-in-law, Judy Free of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Leslie Lambert (Noah) of Petal, Miss., Clint Free (Sirena) of Smith Station, Ala., Alex Free of Tuscaloosa, Nicholas Free of Pottstown, Pa.; Zachary Free of Pottstown, Pa., Carey Free (Sarita) of Tuscaloosa, Jeff Free (Nicole) of Tuscaloosa and Lisa Free of Charleston, S.C.; and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Free was born October 12, 1924 in Moundville, Ala. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family. Her hobbies included reading, cooking and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed participating in activities at Moundville Health and Rehab. She was a charter member of Indian Mounds Baptist Church and loved the Lord dearly.
Pallbearers will be Clint Free, Alex Free, Nicholas Free, Zachary Free, Noah Lambert, Carey Free, Jeff Free and Matthew Ramey.
Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of the Moundville community, the staff of Moundville Health and Rehab, Dr. Larry Skelton, Dr. William Hill and staff at Cardiology Consultants and members of Indian Mounds Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Indian Mounds Baptist Church.
