Gillie W. Dockery

TUSCALOOSA - Gillie W. Dockery, age 79, of Tuscaloosa, passed away on April 3, 2018 at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2018 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Mitch Grissett officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Dockery; four brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Dot Dockery of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; his son, Ricky Dockery (Dottie) of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; his sister, Minerva Tatum of Coaling, Ala; his brothers, Harvey Dockery (Bonnie) and Dawson Dockery (Katie) of Duncanville, Ala; his grandchildren, Patrick Dockery (Demi) of Saraland, Ala, and Dustin Dockery of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and great-granddaughter, Baby D of Saraland, Ala.

Gillie was a fun loving person who enjoyed life and making people laugh and smile. He worked with Alabama Power Company for 38 years and was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church in Duncanville. Gillie shared a passionate love for his family who brought him great joy.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Dockery, Dustin Dockery, Doug Henry, Ronnie Henry, George Tatum, and Raymond Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers are members of Liberty Baptist Church, friends and neighbors of 42nd Street, coworkers of Alabama Power, Doug Freeman, Ronnie Beck, Dr. W.G. Rowell, doctors of the Kirkland Clinic and Alacare Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Liberty Baptist Church Building Fund.
