Glenn Harris, age 78, of Northport, died Nov. 8, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Bart Latner officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Grady Harris; his mother, Evie McDowell Harris; his brothers, Robert “Buddy” Harris and Calvin Harris; and his sister, Earnestine Gallant.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Carolyn Harris; his son, Jeffrey Glenn Harris (Heather Fletcher Harris); his sister, Betty Jean Koon; his brother, Earl Lee Harris; and his grandchildren, Olivia Grace Harris (age 10) and Maggie Elizabeth Harris (age 6).
He was a loving father, grandfather, and husband of 57 years, and a member of the 7th U.S. Infantry in Korea. He worked out of Iron Workers Local 92 for 45-plus years where he participated in the construction of numerous local landmarks.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Iron Workers Local 92 of Birmingham.
