Helen Cameron Wurm, age 89, of Tuscaloosa, died May 9, 2011, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. today at the church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Fritz Wurm.
Survivors include her daughter, Beth Wurm of Atlanta, Ga.; her son, Gary Wurm of Abingdon, Va.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was a registered nurse for Dr. John Burnham for 20 years and was married to Fritz Wurm for 44 years. She was active in her church as a Sunday school teacher, first at Alberta Methodist Church, then at Calvary Baptist Church. She sang in the choir and was president of WSCS (Women's Society of Christian Service). She was a resident of LaRocca Nursing Home for 5 years, during which she was still active in Bible studies and book club.
Pallbearers will be Joe Cameron, Wayne Cameron, David Cameron, Mike Hardy, Van Wurm, and Brad Wurm.
