Howard M. McLaughlin, Jr., age 87, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. passed away February 15, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Memory Hill Gardens with Bart Latner officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard M. McLaughlin, Sr. and Etta Lyles McLaughlin; brothers, Ralph and Donald McLaughlin; and sister, Margie Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mellorene McLaughlin; daughter, Lynn McLaughlin Eckberg; sons, Marty McLaughlin (Judy), Hank L. McLaughlin and Bobby McLaughlin (Sherry); grandchildren, Christopher Eckberg, Hunter McLaughlin, Hank P. McLaughlin, and Dalton McLaughlin; and great-grandchild, Grayson Eckberg.
Howard was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Navy. He served on the USS Arnold Isbell. He was a member of Gilgal Baptist Church and had served as a deacon. He was a Master Mason. He retired from BF Goodrich after 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman.
