

Huey Lane Burchfield, age 69, of Cottondale, died Feb. 3, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Evergreen Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Barger and Rev. Doug Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Vance with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Horace and Cordie Burchfield; two brothers, Hurbert and Hal; and sister, Myra Beall.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Kizziah Burchfield; sister-in-law, Inez Burchfield of Pell City; H.D. and JoAnn Kizziah of Vance; Hank and Shirley Kizziah; Mrs. Sandy Kizziah of Cottondale; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; and his chair buddy, Baby Girl.
Huey served four years in the US Navy and Navy Reserves.
Huey was an amazing person. He never met a stranger, and treated everyone the same. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. When God made Huey, He broke the mold. There will never be another like him. “Rest in peace, sweetheart,” until we meet again.
Pallbearers will be Joey Kizziah, Jeremy Kizziah, John Bell, Marvin James, Shaun Browning, and Terry Powell, with Eric Kizziah and Jonathan Kizziah as alternates.
Honorary pallbearers are Northfork Southern Railway employees, Leon Gilbert of Birmingham, Mrs. Sara James and family, 5 Points Hardware employees past and present, and Wrights Restaurant employees and customers.
