

James "Jimmy" Monroe Meggs age 87 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away peacefully at home with his wife and son on June 5, 2025. Services will be held Sunday June 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with John Vaughn and Scott Moore officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home .
Jimmy was born on July 12, 1937 in Akron, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Susan, parents Penny and Velma Meggs, brothers Roy and Walter Meggs, sisters Ruth Holstan and O'Neal Johnson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years Camille, his son Stephen and daughter in law Tracy, grandchildren Mason and Jordan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews-
Jimmy married the love of his life, Camille on April 9,1960 and was known as a man devoted to his family with a strong Christian faith. He served in the Army National Guard and retired from DCH where he worked in Maintenance for 26 years. He coached the Senior Boys softball and basketball teams at First Wesleyan Church for many years. He really loved his church and Sunday School class. Jimmy was an avid sports fan with his favorite MLB team being the Braves. One of his favorite pastimes was squirrel hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially his son Stephen and was overjoyed when his grandson Mason was born.
