Major James Edward Ponds, USAF Retired, age 82 of Jasper, Alabama passed away on February 19, 2025. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Memory Hill Gardens with Chaplain Colonel Benjamin Perez, USAF (Ret) officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm- 1:45 pm at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
James was preceded in death by his mother, Trevina Lois Avery Ponds; father, Walton Edward Ponds; brother, Tommy Ray Ponds (stillborn).
He is survived by his wife, Betty "Sue" Ponds; son, Jeremy James Ponds; siblings, William "Joe" Ponds, Betty Lou Ponds Russ, Michael Patrick Ponds "Pat", Travis Lee Ponds, Lois "Dale" Ponds Sullivan; grandchildren, Jordan Ponds, Jacob Ponds, Kaylea Ponds, Kaden Ponds.
Major Jim Ponds first served in the Army, and then in the Air Force, as a Registered Nurse serving across our country and around the world during his 20-year military career. He was dedicated to his Lord and Savior.
Pallbearers will be Keith Chism, Ron Creel, Shane Sullivan, Adam Gray.
