

John M Morrison (Mike) peacefully passed away on August 13, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, September 7, At Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery located at 2200 Skyland E, Tuscaloosa, Al 35405
Mike graduated from Holt High School in 1968. He married his high school sweetheart, Deidra Grosse in 1969. They had 4 children, Mike, Jon, Erin and Haley.
Mike graduated from Alabama in 1973 and went on to Coach Baseball at Tuscaloosa County High School and at Holt High School.
He also became a “House Pop” at the Fraternity Lamda Chi where he truly became friends with all the boys, went on several trips with them around the country and is still friends with many of them today. Mike joined the National Guard, went to OCS and earned the rank of Captain and Company Commander of Ft Brandon Armory and Holt Armory before going into recruiting. Mike retired as Captain in the Army National Guard. He then began working in construction and spent many years at The Homebuilders Group. Mike was very involved with his church, Cottondale Methodist. While there Mike started a Food Pantry and a coat closet. He also went on Mission trips to Alaska, Guatemala, and Chile as well as various mission projects in West Alabama
In 2018 he moved to Gulf Shores, married Judy Collins in 2019 and they have spent the last five years, traveling, cruising, concerts (he loved ZZ Top) dancing, tail gating with friends and family and just loving life.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Junior and Juanita Morrison.
He is survived by his Wife Judy Collins-Morrison, Deidra Grosse Morrison, Daughters; Erin Harris (Jason) and Haley Morrison. Sons; Mike Morrison (Jennifer) and Jon Morrison (Jennifer); Step Sons Scott Collins (Aspen), Chris Collins (Misty) and Brett Collins (Allyson); Sisters Nancy Reid (Wesley) Debbie Wright (Bobby Joe) and Pat Lake. Grandchildren: Jordan, Annabella, Evan, Emma Jane, Evie, Bennett, Parker, Breana, Lauren, Ashton, Addison, Caleb, Lydia and Great Granddaughter Laken, along with a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mike loved his family and they always came first but if someone needed help, financially or otherwise, he was the first one there. He would give his last dollar to help someone in need and , of course, he loved to party with his family and friends. Always up for a good time!
