Josie is survived by her daughters Joyce Geddie (Everette), Kay Britton (Ronnie), and Cathy Day (Danny); her son Morris Wheeler; her sisters-in-law Ann Howton, Janet Wheeler, and Mary Wheeler; her grandchildren Maya Sample, Rick Geddie (Allison), Dana Newbill (Vince), Logan Wheeler-Clark (David), William Wheeler (Tori), Kerri Randles (Kevin), Lindsey Williams (Justin), Derek (Capri), Lori Hallman (Chris), Amy Britton, Cassie Sumner (Jes) and her 15 great-grandchildren.
Josie Wheeler was reunited with the love of her life and departed loved ones on February 15, 2024 at home. She was the last founding member of the Cottondale Church of Christ. Everyone looked forward to her pasta salad, chocolate pie, potato salad, and banana pudding. In her younger years, she was a member of a bowling league and worked at the Tuscaloosa Library Bindery. She loved to tell people that she had never tasted of fresh-brewed coffee. Josie always put others before herself and was a light in this dark world. Even through her battle with dementia, she always remembered to ask her children if they needed anything from her. She loved it when people would try to guess her age because no one believed that she was 95 years old. She was a perfect example of selflessness and generosity. Her grandchildren and great-children always looked forward to getting a dollar from Grandma Josie. Until dementia limited her, she was a faithful member of the Cottondale Church of Christ and a shining example of a Godly Christian woman.
Serving as pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
As honorary pallbearers; the members of the Cottondale Church of Christ, Central Church of Christ, North Tuscaloosa Church of Christ, Michelle and staff of Enhabit Hospice, Neighbors of Glenwood Park, Dr. Chandra, JoAnna, Tammy, Sheila, Jordan, Paula Pedram, Carolyn Perrotti, Lynn McMasters, and Marie Strain. Also, many Nieces and Nephews.
A celebration of life visitation for Josie will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a chapel service at 2:00 PM.
