BROOKWOOD - Kassi Laney Mahan, age 35, of Brookwood, Ala., passed away March 24, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama after a long battle with brain cancer. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Big Hurricane Cemetery in Brookwood with Pastor Ken Kalinich officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 12 noon – 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Heritage Chapel.
She was the daughter of Raymond "Doc" Laney and the late, Marsha Laney, and was preceded in death by her older sister, Beverly Kirkland of North Carolina.
Survivors include her husband of 17 years, Jason Mahan; son, Alex Mahan; daughter, Abigail Grace Mahan; sister, Karri Laney (Joe Martin) and her children, Haley and Trent Sims; niece, Morgan Kirkland; father, Raymond Laney; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Johnny and Glenda Battles; brother-in-law, Johnny Battles and his children, Ansleigh, Aiden and Landon Mahan; many aunts, uncles, cousins and "all her people".
Kassi was an Alabama fan- from football, softball to gymnastics, anything Alabama.
She loved her husband and kids with all she had.
Pallbearers will be Adam Hatter, Eric Falls, Johnny Battles, Johnny Sellers, Trinity Rich and Shannon Kizziah.
Honorary pallbearers are Trent Sims, Justin Toxey and Southland Resources.
