

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Nell Kemp.
Survivors include her son, Steve (Cindy); two granddaughters, Marisa Knott (Justin) and Brannan Ballard; and two great-grandsons.
Laura was born and raised in Tuscaloosa County. She graduated from Gorgas High School. She attended Livingston University and the University of Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics Education, Master’s Degree and AA Certificate from UA. Her first job was as a Home Economist with the Mobile Gas Company. She then taught school in Baldwin, Mobile and Tuscaloosa counties. Her last twenty-six years of teaching was at Collins Riverside Jr. High School in Northport. Laura loved traveling, reading, working with flowers and Alabama football. She was a member of Northport Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Friendship Sunday School Class, Northport Trailblazers, retired teachers of Collins Riverside Jr. High, Dan and Margaret Livingston, Robert and Charlotte Green and Lynn and Mavinee Thames.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northport Baptist Church Imagine Fund.
