Laverne Fleenor Williams, age 60, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died December 24, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel Garner Fleenor and Charles Fleenor; and sisters, Kathy Andrews and Cherrie Lynn Tullis.
Survivors include her sister, Diane Hughes of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; brother, Charles Fleenor of Georgetown, Ky.; nieces and nephews, Pam (Jennifer), Angie, Kristy (Billy), Chris, Kim, Chas (Shaila) and Danielle (Mike); and 15 great-nieces and nephews.
Laverne loved spending time outdoors. She loved Alabama football and spending time with family and friends. She retired from years of hard work and spent time keeping her great-niece and nephews who were more like her grandchildren. Her great-nephew, Carson, began calling her nana as well. Vern had a heart of gold and an infectious laugh. We know she is with her sisters, sharing laughs, having a drink and sitting on a pier with a fishing pole smiling down.
To honor Laverne, we ask that everyone wear their Alabama attire to the visitation.
