Celebration of Life Service will be Thursday July 8, 2021 at 12 Noon at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Felkins officiating with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, A Dignity Memorial Provider directing. A reception will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Lee was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on July 6, 1957 to Robert Jackson “Jack” and Connie Sue Echols and living his entire life in Tuscaloosa, he graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1975 and went on to attend the University of Alabama where he received a degree in Business / Accounting in 1979. He was a well respected CPA and business owner, practicing for nearly 40 years in Tuscaloosa; and a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.
He married Liz, the love of his life on July 18, 1998 and took great pride in being an Uncle to his beloved nieces and nephews. Lee was a people person, he never met a stranger; he was approachable and kind, could tell a good story and was much loved and will be much missed by all who knew him.
Passionate about nature from an early age, Lee was happiest outdoors being an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He loved his dogs and throughout his lifetime quietly helped those less fortunate care for their animals; this is an example of how he lived his life. He was a dedicated and enthusiastic Alabama Sports fan (RTR).
Lee was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Sue Echols of Tuscaloosa AL; his brother Robert Wayne Echols of Birmingham, AL and his nephew Robert Michael Echols of Tuscaloosa, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Elizabeth Mary “Liz” Echols of Tuscaloosa, AL; his sister Jackie Echols Ray (Kip) of Bessemer, AL his brother Michael H. Echols of Tuscaloosa, AL. his sister in law Leslie Echols of Birmingham, A; his nieces Christina M. Echols of Tuscaloosa, AL; Jennifer Echols Edmonds (Chris) of Birmingham, AL; Morgan N. Ray of Bessemer, AL; Alexandra H. E. “Sasha” Gill of Nottingham, UK and nephews Jackson O. Echols (Amber) of Arlington, TX; Christopher L. C. Gill of Worcester, UK; Benjamin W. H. Gill of Devon, UK; Thomas A. Eckersley of Montriond, France.
He also leaves behind a host of beloved friends.
