

Leo D. Caldwell, Sr., age 82, of Fosters, died April 5, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 12 noon Friday at Memory Hill Gardens with Dee McGuire officiating and Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A dedicated family man, Leo was a service veteran and Purple Heart recipient in the Korean War. He was also a police officer. He retired from B.F. Goodrich as a security guard and was a hero in the eyes of his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lee Caldwell and Bennie Caldwell; granddaughter, Angela Bigham; brothers, Delmar Caldwell and Buck Caldwell; and sister, Francis Culpepper.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Marie Caldwell; daughters, Sandra Marie Caldwell and Debra Kay Caldwell; son, Leo Dennis Caldwell Jr.; and brother, “Jack” James Clinton Caldwell, all of Fosters, Ala.; granddaughter, Stacey Marie Phillips; grandson, Charles “Daniel” Bailey Jr.; great-grandchildren, Roman, Ryan, Robert, Clayton and Cole Phillips, and Kayla Marie Brown.
Pallbearers are Mark Shockley, Hunter Davis, Wayne Cooper, Kevin Phillips, Roman Phillips, and Thomas Earl McCarter.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Corder, staff of DCH MICU 3rd floor, U.S. Army 75th Field Hospital Combat Support Unit, security guards and staff of B.F. Goodrich, Tuscaloosa Police Department, and the VA Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending donations to the V.A. Medical Center in support of our troops, the American Heart Association , or a charity of one's choice.
