Leon Beck

Leon Beck, 92, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at his residence in Cottondale. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 6-8pm at Central Church of Christ (302 Hargrove Road, Tuscaloosa). A Funeral Service will be Monday, December 20, 2021 at 1:00pm from Central Church of Christ, with Scott McCowan officiating. A Graveside Service, with Military Honors, will follow at 2:30pm from Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Services will be under the direction of Memory Chapel of Tuscaloosa, a Dignity Memorial provider.

Leon Beck, also known as “Papa Beck” to a host of many foster children and daycare children for many years. He loved his church family and friends. Leon had a great passion for hunting and fishing. Leon served his country during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents Nelson and Lena Beck, one brother Nolan Beck, one daughter Angie Johnson, two sons Randy Beck and Ronnie Beck.

He is survived by his wife Helen; daughter Annette (Phillip) Pogue of Tuscaloosa; son Terry Beck of Cottondale; grandchildren: Kristy Fife, Lori Sanford, Jeremy Beck, Kristin Fair, Chase Pogue, Matthew Pogue; several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one sister Hilda Hassell of Mobile; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones.

Serving as Active Pallbearers will be: Phillip Pogue, Chase Pogue, Jeremy Beck, Scott Trimm, Judson Trimm, Eric Fair, Lomax Fuller and Baylen Foshee. The family wishes to recognize Central Church of Christ, all local Church of Christ, Friends and Neighbors of Norris Circle and Cottondale, Keith, Sherry and Baylen Foshee, Mike and Lake Stanley, Jimmy and Rita Beck, Dan and Tiran Byrd, Lomax and Ann Fuller, Alan Bean, David Pierce, Jerry and Betty Burlison, Donald Hallman, Austin Whitehead and Mallory, Mark Terry, Randy Sexton, John Hammer, Dee Cowan, Retirees of the Alabama State Highway Department and Retirees of Gulf States Paper Corp.

The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Central Church of Christ Building Fund or to your favorite charity.
