Leon Odom, age 83, of Northport, died Feb. 27, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Odom, and his mother, Ella Odom of Walker County; two brothers; one sister; and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Odom; seven children, Elaine Evans (Gary), Gary Odom (Betty), Mark Odom (Debbie), Sally Odom (Eddie), Steve Odom (Telisa), Molly Windle (Craig), and Philip Odom; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Odom's grandsons.
Leon was retired from the University of Alabama. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
