

Linda Ann Toxey Boyd, age 86, formerly of Coaling, AL, passed away on Monday, August 4,2025 in Nashville,TN. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Vance, AL. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon and the service at 1:00 PM with Brother Jack Clary officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery.
Linda was the second child born to Rufus P. and Estelle G. Toxey. She grew up in Holt, AL and was a long-time member of Holt Baptist Church, where she made a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus and was baptized. She attended Holt Elementary School and graduated from Holt High School in 1957. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1961 and a Master of Science in Nursing in 1962 from the University of Alabama. She later received a Master of Public Health from The University of Alabama Birmingham in 1984. After graduating from college, she worked at Druid City Hospital, University of Alabama, Partlow State School and Hospital, Bryce Hospital, and the Tuscaloosa County Department of Health.
Linda married Henry Wayne Boyd on July 25, 1959. They lived in the Tuscaloosa area until 1965 when they moved to the Coaling area on Highway 11. Shortly thereafter they joined Evergreen Baptist Church and were faithful members there until health issues necessitated their relocation in 2018. Linda was active as a pianist, Sunday School teacher and in children’s ministries. Serving and extending mercy to the body of Christ and the broader community was a priority to her. She frequently offered medical advice and administered care to those in need. Linda’s proudest vocational accomplishment was the founding of the Good Samaritan Clinic in Northport, AL in 1999. This was a free Christian (non-denominational) medical clinic for the uninsured, which is still in operation today.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Preston Toxey and Mattie Estelle Gregory Toxey. She was survived by her husband, Henry Wayne Boyd (by 3 days).
She is survived by her brother, John Lewis Toxey, Sr. (Annette), and three children, Gary Wayne Boyd (Jane), Delana Boyd Leichner (Ted), and Anthony Lynn Boyd (Tracy), her grandchildren (19), Stephen Gregory Boyd (Sarah), Sarah Boyd Travers (Evan), Michael Preston Boyd (Audra), Allison Boyd Travers (Michael), Hannah Jane Boyd, Caleb Howard Boyd (Ellie), Joshua Henry Boyd, Seth Thomas Boyd, Samuel Jackson Boyd, Margaret Leichner Long (Chase), Abigail Leichner Dias (Seth), Peter Conrad Leichner (Megan), Mary Elisabeth Leichner, Nathan Edward Leichner, Joseph Edward Leichner, Kathryn Eliana Boyd, Aidan Nathanael Boyd, Levi Philip Boyd, and Kristina Estelle Boyd; her great-grandchildren (11), Sophia Kate Travers, Ian Jesse Travers, Lily Evans Travers, Eleanor Jane Boyd, Elizabeth Claire Boyd, Bentley Anne Boyd, Amelia Marie Travers, Laura Margaret Long, Elijah Edward Leichner, Conrad James Leichner, Daniel Harvey Dias.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
