

Lois Ryan Lawrence, age 96, stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 24, 2025, at home. Services will be at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025 with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Cochrane officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, A Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, O.D. Lawrence, Jr.; her son, Ron Lawrence; Son-in-law, Bobby Yaw; Parents, Claude and Jennie Bell Ryan; In-laws, O.D. and Ruby Lawrence; Sisters, Betty Terry and Gay Colvin; and brothers, Curtis and Donald Ryan.
She is survived by her daughter, Jan Yaw; Sons, Barry (Kim) Lawrence and Mark (Regina) Lawrence; Granddaughters, Kristi (Jason), Jayne, Ashley (Jonathan) Kirkland, and Traci (Jon) Spruill; Grandsons, Jeremy Lawrence and Cody (Fiance' Morgan) Lawrence; Great-grandchildren, Brylan and Kyler Jayne, Paxton and Lexi Kirkland, Levi Lawrence, Hudson Spruill, and Natalie Logue; Brother, David Ryan; along with many special nieces and nephews. Bonus Children, Larry (Brenda) Stevens, Rhonda Doss, Kip Tyner, and Stephanie (Lynn) Parks.
Lois was born January 4, 1929 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She was raised in the Holt community and was a faithful member of Holt Baptist Church from the time she was on the cradle roll until the church joined with Forest Lake Baptist. She graduated from Holt High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Alabama until meeting the love of her life, O.D. As they began their married life together they built their home in Durrett Grove, where they would raise their four children. Their home was filled with love and laughter as they welcomed all extended family and friends for decades. Everyone left there knowing they were special and also full from delicious meals she fed around her kitchen table. She lived in their home for 76 years. Lois was a precious and caring person who touched the lives of her family and friends. She was affectionately known by all who loved her as Mama Lois.
Pallbearers are Jeremy and Cody Lawrence, Brylan and Kyler Jayne, Paxton Kirkland, Steve Terry, Tommy and Ryan Colvin, Scott and Dave Ryan, and Charlie Watts.
