

Martha Ann Foster Wyatt (b. 1937) - mother, community servant, voracious reader of John Grisham books, friend and supporter of many in her community both related and unrelated to her, lifelong member of the Coaling, Alabama community, always impeccably dressed for the occasion be it casual or professional or just having fun in her pool with kids, raised many children in the community with her love, kindness and admiration, inspirational in the manner in which she lived her life full of vitality, vigor and perseverance, legendary hostess of holiday events or simple visits by members of family or the community, always prepared for guests with foods, snacks or candy, lover of all things Crimson Tide (especially football and basketball, which she supported and participated as a season ticket holder for over 55 years, consecutively), merchant, business owner, member of Coaling Baptist for her entire life, passed away in her home, peacefully, in the early morning on August 27, 2021. Born in Coaling, she graduated from Brookwood High School in 1955 and The University of Alabama in 1958. She was a member of the Que Vive Club, UDC, and active in many community organizations or non-profits, including being a longtime member of Soroptimist, which provides women and girls with access to education and training to help them achieve economic empowerment, as well as her longtime involvement in the efforts of the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, both in her medical professional life and as a private contributor.
She is survived by her loving daughter Amanda (Rick), her grandson Mason, but also her nephews, who were like sons to her: Johnny (Juanita), Steve (Sheila), Andy (Vanesa) and Tim (Mandy). Also, she is survived by her grandnephews, grandnieces and great-grands, who she loved and participated in all their lives and them in hers: Greg (Julie), Amy (John), Lori (Chris), Ben, Sam (Christina Sun-a), Thomas, Kathryn (Matt), Seth, Anna Bella, Foster, Connor, Logan, and Peyton. She is predeceased by her wonderful father, Thomas Hull Foster, Sr., and her mother, Lula Amanda Toomey Foster, who taught her many life lessons and showered her with much love for which she is very grateful. Also, she was preceded in death by her brother John W. Foster Sr. “Buddy” who hung the moon in her eyes, as well as sister in love Hattie Ruth Limbaugh Foster and Aileene Dahlke. Her sweet brother, Thomas Foster, Jr., and sister, Ethelyn Tobin, also precede her in death.
She has chosen people very special to her to serve as her pallbearers: Bobby Averett, Bee Morrison, Larry Thomas, Wayne Seagle, Jon Miller, George Tatum, Andy Roberts and Homer Perry. Also, she wants to say thank you to the special team and caregivers at Hospice of West Alabama for making her last days pleasant, so that she could say her many goodbyes to all of those she loved and adored. And a special thank you to Janet and Tatum Marcum who provided care as extended family.
She loved fiercely and fought a long illness bravely while keeping her faith. Her life made a positive impact on those around her and she will be missed. The family will hold visitation at Memory Chapel on Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 between 4 pm and 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 3rd, 2021 at 11 am from Coaling Baptist Church with Bro. Todd Burkhalter and Bro. Bart Latner officiating. Private burial will immediately follow from Coaling Cemetery, Memory Chapel, a Dignity Memorial provider, is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
The family kindly asks that masks be worn and social distancing protocol be followed at the visitation and the service in honor of Martha’s wishes to always love your neighbor and keep each other safe.
