Mary Yuvetta Davis Elmore
26 abril , 1935 – 20 febrero , 2021
Mary Yuvetta Davis Elmore, was born April 26, 1935, in her beloved town of Kennedy in Lamar County, Alabama. In recent times Mary fought a difficult battle with dementia and left her earthly home, her devoted family and a host of friends to be with her Heavenly Father on February 20, 2021, at the age of 85. Mary stayed in her home as long as possible with the help of her family and then was being cared for at Winfield Hospital Senior Care Unit and hospice care at the time of her death. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Charles A. Davis Jr and Sophie Mae McIntosh Davis, her brothers Harvey Lee Davis and Charles A. Davis III. Her high school sweetheart and husband of 8 years, John Michael (Mike) Cline Jr. and James Elliott (Poppa) Elmore, her husband of 40 years. Mary leaves behind her children, Pam Elmore, Elizabeth Snyder (Craig), Richard Elmore (Janie), Michael Cline (Becky), and Timothy Elmore, ten grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and she loved them all. Although not a sister by birth she also leaves behind her dearly beloved friend of over 60 years, Edith Tennyson. With the anxiety over her dementia she kept coming back to the quote… “What the mind forgets, the heart will always remember.” Twan Eng Tan A graveside service will be held at Memory Chapel, Memory Hill Gardens, February 24, 2021, officiating Minister Kerry Richardson. Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband James Elmore. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, great grandsons, Leo Herron and Paul Moore. Mary was a member of the Lord’s church at Northport church of Christ where she attended faithfully as long as her health permitted. Mary loved seeing the members and friends there, however, her favorite activity was when she taught “her babies” who attended the cradle row class. She enjoyed watching them grow up and have babies of their own. Mary worked a few years at Bell South Telephone Company as a switch board operator but she loved being a homemaker for her family, a mother to her children and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother the best. She was very creative and enjoyed sewing for her family, reading and had an avid interest and talent for researching family genealogy and recording their history. She penned many articles which have been included in several county history books. Mary was a faithful and passionate “Roll Tide”, Alabama Football Fan. Her yearly calendar went from opening season to the next opening season and she watched every re-run game she could in between. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Evangelism/Preacher Training Program at Northport church of Christ, P.O Box 333, Northport, AL 35476.

Mary was a good friend of my mother, Berma. They loved to do genealogy together and took trips together for their research. Mama would share with me the fun they had on their trips and so many funny stories and how they laughed together. When Mama passed away Mary was there for me with such loving support. When I would come to Tuscaloosa to visit, I visited with Mary and she would share with me again some of the stories Mama had shared with me earlier. We also spoke on the phone where Mary showered much love on me which helped me tremendously. I was so sad to hear of Mary's passing. I can just picture Mama and Mary rejoicing in Heaven together with Mama saying to her, "Mary, thank you so much for the love you showered on my Vicki".
To Mary's family, thank you for sharing Mary with me. Mary, Rest in Peace as you rejoice in Heaven with Jesus and all your love ones who have gone on before you.
With much love, Vicki Jones. Navarre, FL

We made a move from Texas after college and instead of wondering if coming here was a good decision ... our decision was justified when enriched by Christian family here in Alabama. Craig/Beth Snyder with Carol, Sharon and Jason make up some great memories of young families working together for the Lord. They were “adopted” family for us, Ryan and Courtney. So by extension, Jimmy and Mary Elmore were among those we regarded as parents/grandparents. We look forward to the day we will all be reunited with the Lord in Glory. Prayers to the Father for the comfort this family needs. Love from afar (COVID-19😔) to those who are left behind missing Mom/Mary/Gran. ❤️
