
PENSACOLA, FLA. - Mary Elizabeth Nichols was born July 8, 1944 and died August 19, 2018. She attended Northport Elementary School and Tuscaloosa County High School. After graduating from Livingston University (West Alabama University), she moved to Pensacola, Florida where she taught eighth grade in the Escambia School System for 39 years. Elizabeth taught civics and history, subjects she was passionate about, and encouraged her students to become knowledgeable in these areas as well.
Her favorite hobby was quilting and sewing and enjoyed making quilts, pillow cases and place mats for family as well as patients in the Children’s Hospital and children in the Baptist Children’s Home.
Elizabeth was a member of East Brent Baptist Church, Retired Teachers and Little Red Hens Quilting group.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lois Nichols and J.W. Nichols; and brother-in-law, Bruce Hutchins.
She is survived by her sister, Priscilla Nichols Hutchins; niece, Frances Hutchins; and nephew, Christopher Hutchins.
There will be a graveside service at Memory Hill Gardens on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 12:30 p.m.
